A U.S. Northern Command platform recorded 21 seconds of infrared footage in 2024 over the Gulf of Oman capturing an unidentified aerial object described as an inverted teardrop shape with a vertically linear mass or pole-like structure suspended beneath it. The object remained generally centered in the sensor’s field of view throughout the entire clip, with no significant change in form or maneuvering behavior observed over the 00:00–00:21 interval. The mission report notes the observer’s assessment that the feature may have been a water-based reflection, though the reported altitude of approximately 24,000 feet is cited as inconsistent with that hypothesis.
Six months after a similar Mediterranean sighting involving a nearly identical inverted teardrop configuration, the Gulf of Oman case recorded an object traveling at an estimated 163 knots, again appearing as a teardrop-like form with a vertical trailing element. Both incidents are presented as separate submissions within the same broader dataset of UAP reports and remain officially unresolved, with no determination made as to whether the objects are related or represent the same phenomenon.
